Andreas Cellarius (c. 1596–1665) is best known for his Atlas Coelestis seu Harmonia Macrocosmica, a fascinating celestial atlas and a remarkable achievement of the golden age of Dutch cartography. It was first published in 1660 by Johannes Janssonius of Amsterdam as one of twenty-nine hand-colored double-folio maps included in Cellarius’s atlas. This edition of the Harmonia Macrocosmicais in the collection of the British Library, which encourages research and promotes education while engaging the public throughthe display and interpretation of its extraordinary resources.
