John Duncan (Scottish, 1866–1945)
Saint Bride, 1913
Clothed in robes depicting scenes from the life of Christ, angels carry Saint Bride to Bethlehem. This Celtic saint, also known as Saint Brigid, shares her name and an intertwining history with a Celtic goddess. Symbolist painter John Duncan was a leader of the Celtic revival in Scottish art and was influenced by the early Italian Renaissance. It’s possible he included himself in this painting, as the clown that appears alongside the procession of the magi.
Thoughtfully conceived and engagingly intricate, our interlocking jigsaw puzzles combine superb color reproduction, stunning and unusual images, and sturdy construction to delight generations of novice and veteran puzzleworkers.
